Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

The carbon dioxide concentration measured at Mauna Loa observatory since 1958 is shown below.   As can be seen it has been increasing since 1958.  Since carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, the increase in its concentration will likely cause Earth's surface temperature to increase beyond what is natural (global warming).  The amount of future global warming depends in part on the future atmospheric concentrations of CO2.  This activity will use the basic model of global pollution, along with several assumptions regarding future emissions, to estimate future atmospheric concentrations of CO2.   CO2 Model.
